The internet is up and down like a yo-yo. Works, slow, doesn't work. works again. Junk. And I pay extra for the higher speeds. Cox is the only cable supplier in my area, and they act like it....

Simply put, they couldn't care less. Call and complain and you get the standard bimbette reading from the script card.

I work in California M-F in an area with 2 competing cable suppliers. And the standard internet I have there blows the crap I have in AZ away.

Payback is coming Cox. The phone company is almost done wiring my neighborhood for 1Gb fiber optic. The day that becomes available is the day I bring all the hardware in my basement to the nearest COX store and we part ways.

This was 4 years ago. I was living in Arizona at the time. By phone, I requested that my service end because I was about to move back home to New York. The account was closed. I was then told to return my modem and the cords that came with it to the store I leased them from, which I did. I do recall receiving a receipt, but that was 4 years ago and I don't keep receipts that long, nor should I be expected to. A month ago, I checked my credit score for the first time to find that I was being charged for not returning the modem, which I did. Cox refuses to drop the matter because I no longer have the receipt nor the information which was printed on it. I am being charged $416 I do not have.

OMG!!!! The day you are now longer a "new" customer and have already received a couple "existing" customer discounts WITH 2 YR CONTRACT....apparently them BITCHES no longer want to maintain a multiple product existing customer with a discounted rate.
I'm not a business annalist nor a CEO of a multi-million dollar company BUT, I would rather retain an existing customer by giving them a 50-60 dollar break. OR...just dropping the home phone as asked so the customer can save the 35 bucks.... BUT NO!!!! It was like I was buying a used car..."please hold the line, I have to speak to my manager". The bonehead came back with a price higher than what my current bill was. Mind you my "discounts" have expired. I told that bonehead "hell no" to what he had to offer and let him know that the next call I make to Cox will be to DISCONNECT everything except internet.
I tried to find out how much just INTERNET would cost and I got the run around on that also, put me in que with a really long wait. Hung up...went online to check price. Shock you can't see prices so I answered the pop up instant chat box. Asked there but refused to tell them I am existing. Well, of course they stalked me and chatted back with the confirmation of existing services and I asked....if you already knew "Why in the hell did you bother asking"
SO I called the next day from my work phone, said I was knew and wanted price of Internet Only, don't care about the 1 year intro. Finally got my answer...about 78.00 bucks.
Will be purchasing a Channel Master soon and checking into Sling TV. So COX"suckers" you will now be losing 130.00 bucks a month instead of just 35-50. Again, not a business guru but now they will be losing quite a bit more a month when all they had to do was give me a bit of a break on my bill.
See ya Cox "suckers"...wouldn't use them at all but they are the best ISP in Phx Metro

(I am an IT guy for a large corporation in several states, and we have daily run ins with ATnotT, and COX.)

Here is the low down on COX speed packages...its a marketing ploy with no actual results. Yeah, ya getting ripped off.
The sales pitch---"Get mega download speeds, 100mbps! For $$ more you can get 200mbps! Do all of your surfing in 2 seconds, blahblah. "

The sad reality is that to "prove it to you" they send you to "speedtest.com" to show you how fast your clunker is.
But really, what that site shows you is the speed BETWEEN COX's servers...
and NOT to the "outside world", and is NOT a real world speed indicator.

Why? Because the hardware needed to get any faster than 10mbps gets expensive and larger. (I have installed bunches). So what's on the telephone pole outside is 10-20mbps max.

Are they lying? YES. The marketing INFERS total average net com speeds at 100-200mbps, but you will NEVER get that---because the physical system's electronics CAN'T.

The caveat is that NOWHERE on any website do they accurately spell out the tech detail of what those numbers mean. That leaves them legally free to bamboozle the public with glossy technical terminology, without having to provide the inferred performance.

Sorry folks, there is a electronics components limitation on net speeds that come from the telecom providers. To help out...here are two real owworld speedtesters.....

toast.net -will give you speeds in kbps- so divide by 100. (if it says 8000kbps, it means 8mbps.) Is the most accurate results.

speakeasy.com.--will give you max burst speeds.

anyone else will give you a "reported speed" (which is only between the company's servers), the results are also tempered/signaled by the header package your net provider sends to that "favored service site". In other words, your provider sends info to the speedtest site telling it your "assigned speed". (If it measures differently, it gives you an error). They constantly refer customers to such sites to "validate" net speeds, but technically it is only true for communications between the customer and the speedtest site.




To get 200mbps, you would need a multicore fiber connection, direct connection off of a trunking line, and fast electronics everywhere in between. I have 130mbps to my desk (for sending info between systems, and to reroute large customer files when the local net chokes.)

Sorry ya'll, but they are all lying their corporate asses off to grab your dollars.

From day 1 I have had nothing but horrible service from this incompetent cable company and yet I pay $350 a month for cable and internet. Issues with the DVD not recording, channels I pay a premium for I cannot access, the screen gets stuck and I cannot delete the DVR program after I watch I, on and on and on. This absolutely absurd and if I had better alternatives, I would dump them on their ass asap......this is total BS and they should not be in business

'Oh yes please can I have some additional shitty services with no customer service or accountabilty!?

Billing is totally unscrupulous by sending out 'due bills' for as much as 15 days in advance of services being provided for a complete cycle and then expecting immediate payment or nasty gram letters threatening to turn off services!?!?

Time to trim back on a wasteful service provider who can take their empty 'customer service' platitudes, mediocre services and shove it!

Been with them for 20 or so years. Always has dropped Internet signal from 40 seconds to 17 mins right around midnight each and every night. They will not say that they take it down for maintenance, so what is it then?
Also, whenever I use e-mail to send to a phone carrier's system, it has taken up to 24hrs to deliver that e-mail. In case you don't know what I'm talking about, anyone has the ability to send an e-mail with the limitations of standard text messaging, to cell phones that have texting ability. Look up a list of carriers and see what domain they use for such SMS messages. Verizon, for example, is xxxxxxxxxx@vtext.com where x are the ten digit phone number you want to text to. Some people like me don't have a smart phone, or a old flip phone with unlimited texting, so I try to use email to SMS texting. I just can't count on it for timely delivery.
I've written postmaster@cox.net in regards to this delay and it's been 3 days and no reply. Instead, I get an email within 2 days that say they have poked around on my network and has found a service that I shouldn't be running. The e-mail is politely written saying I might have a bug in my system or someone else having access, or perhaps I'm doing something forbidden and for me to stop it. Either way they want me to fix it. I believe I have fixed the configuration in my router to comply. What's my point?? Well, I ask for possible details for any msg failures and if there are any rules to go by, and they respond by telling me to fix my connection instead. Lesson learned : Don't complain to them, just leave to another provider when possible.

I fucking hate Cox Cable. From 8:00 PM to !2:00+ AM, my down speed drops to between 0.3 mbs to 0..02 mbs. This makes it almost impossible to play games, stream music, or watch videos (which is all I do at night), so basically I'm paying for service that only works 18 hours a day. When consider the fact that I work during from 9 to 5 and sleep 6-8 hours a night, that equate to me being able to use my goddamn internet for 4 hours in a 24 hour period. This is completely unacceptable, yet what am I supposed to do? The only other option I have is AT&T, who are also horrible and would only give me good rates if I broke my contract with my wireless provider. Maybe if thousands of us submitted FCC complaints en masse, repeatedly, something might change, but I doubt it. Yay for corporate greed fucking over everyone. South Park is right about cable and isp companies: They just sit around, rubbing their nipples and getting off over how much they can make us suffer while still gouging the shit out of us because there is nothing we can fucking do about it. Boxes turn off and on, changing channels as it decides it wants to. 8 days with Contour, 3 calls to tech support. When I called to have a tech out for the fourth visit, they say they can't have someone out for 2 days, when I tell them after 3 prior visits I find that unacceptable, they say hey can't do anything. Even after asking to
talk to a supervisor. The Floor Supervisor named "John" still says he can't do anything and then get a short/curt attitude when I ask to talk to someone else.

It's time to break up these "no-service" cable monopolies. Call your Senator and Representative. Bring the Cox cable monopoly to an end in Destin, Florida.

Dumb a r s e said this because I mentioned I work from home & need to log on to the internet. Their services are frequently out just when I need the internet to work or study.

I nearly cursed him out because they charge approximately $200 just to get the business service & tell you to bend over and take it by gouging you another $70 a month before taxes for internet only. The jack a r s e again tried to argue that they reimburse you but monetary loss is not the only loss I would have when not working. Outages galore. And internet throttling! Seriously! THROTTLING? I've had cable for 30 years and I have never, ever seen any company this incompetent. They don't even seem to care. You suck so so badly!!! The only reason I put up with your pure unadelerated CONSTANT shit service is because you're the only option for internet in my complex, where a dish is not permitted. I loath every second I have to spend signed up with you! In the 10 years I've had your internet in some package or another and it has consistently sucked such an incredible amount of ass. When I think about the thousands of dollars I've paid you over the past decade for nothing but utter crap I want put my head in a microwave oven. In the past two years your service has never been worse, and you've jacked my already inflated bill up by 50%. 50% fucking percent in two years! I now pay $75 a month for a service that literally goes out multiple times EVERY day! In the past two weeks I've literally spent HOURS on the phone with your tech services reps., and had a tech out to physically "fix" my issues. Mind bogglingly, literally fucking unfathomably my service STILL goes out CONSTANTLY!! What the fuck is that?!? Seriously FUCK you from the bottom of my heart. The day I can cancel you for good, or even better, you are put out of service by some company that actually provides the service their customers pay, the world will be an infinitely better place. I am on my 4th cable box in 3 years. The 1st one worked for 8 years until we moved.
The 3rd one was a "guaranteed" new one. Guess that's why the disk was full of the previous owners crap.
Unfortunately can't get AT&T, or preferably VERIZON FIOS in this area.
Sadly Dish or DirecTv seem to be the only options left.
And now they are going to encrypt the local channels under the guise of "better support".
Guess if your support is 0, you can only go up.

They sent me to a retention rep that made numerous promises to lower my bill but he failed to enter anything that he promised to us into there system that led to my services being cut off three months later because I paid the rate that I was promised I would get to stay with Cox. These CSRs can't understand that my services where cut off by them because of there actions and not mine. They say my services where cut off because of my failure to pay the full amount when I paid the amount I was promised by there retention rep. This is there fault and not mine and I have been on the phone for over three (3) hours trying to get these numb skills to understand that this is there mistake and not mine. They also tried to charge be disconnections fees for both TV and internet services when they cut me off. I really think that there lack of customer service is by design because they can't be that stupid. These robots are trained to twist and point there fingers back at you. I regret not cancelling my services with Cox and look forward to the day I get away from these Morons. Come on Google you can't get here fast enough... I'll admit straight out that I'm an aging baby boomer and not at all tech savvy. My family has had Cox Cable since before there was a company called Cox Cable (circa 1968 Mission Cable TV, 12 clear channels!!!).

I still use VCR's to record my shows so I can take a tape and player with me on road trips. Our house had a great set-up for over 30 years: Two VCR'S per tv using a splitter and A-B switch. Now with this new Cox P.O.S mini box, it's 1980 all over again. We have to manually change the channel on the boxes each time to record different shows. Since their rip-off DVR offerings are too expensive and would require two per TV set if we wanted to record two different shows at the same time, we've had to make the adjustment.

Thanks for nothing COX! Your new and improved junk gets worse everytime. This latest offering required a technician visit to set things up because the stupid boxes wouldn't synch up despite spending 45 minutes on your help line and numerous re-setting the systems.

One last thought. Why can't they just provide a basic digital to analog converter without the stupid channel selector? Maybe one of you tech knowledgeable types can break it down in simple terms to a basic tech "no little to nothing"?

Well, I have had Cox Internet now for 3 years. I have the top package for my area which is supposed to gives speeds up to 65mb. Lately I have noticed issues with buffering in the evening so I do a speed test and I get 1.5mb to 4mb. At 6am I test and I get 65mb. I repeat this for a few days with the same result. I have a Tech scheduled to come out tomorrow to investigate. My guess is he will hook his meter up, press some buttons and say well it looks like everything is fine here. What is apparent is Cox has overloaded the network for my area and everyone is trying to use the bandwidth at the same time. Do you think Cox will discount my service since they are only giving about 5% of what they promise? I think not...Maybe I should just pay 5% of my $70 bill???

There are no words to express how badly I hate Cox! One has to seriously question our government that shamelessly endorses these types of monopolies that control our communications services. We are forced to use Cox for cable internet in Arizona and they are notorious crooks who manipulate customers into services that they didn't request and then charge astronomical fees for said services. For example, I recently started up my internet service at the Preferred rate of 54.99. When I called to activate my self-installation the customer service rep sweet talked me into agreeing to accept a cable box to try one month TV for free. The box came but no remote control. So then I had to call and request a remote for the TV service I did not even want. Of course they didn't want to send me the actual wall cable and splitter so I had to go to a local office and pick one up, again, all for a service I had no real interest in. So during that so-called free month, I struggled with operating the absurdly complicated remote with a gajillion buttons that I can't even read, with a TV guide that is almost impossible to find anything worth watching accept one program I like on Demand but when I go to watch the show it craps out 1/2 way through and gives an error that it's unavailable, try again later. Yeah right! So I called to cancel the TV before I began getting charged and battled with some nitwit girl on the phone for about 15 minutes trying to convince her that I do not in fact really truly want their stupid frigging TV service! Then she proclaimed that my pro-rated charge without the TV is now $279!!! Not to mention she wanted to argue with me that I had ordered Premium internet at $64.99 when I have a bill clearly showing it was the Preferred at $54.99. Oh God how I hate them and remember the insane eight month battle I had with them the last time I was FORCED into using their internet service and they illegally charged me excess fees. I literally had to write the Attorney General to get Cox off my back. And now here we go around on the RIP OFF ARTIST MERRY GO ROUND! I then asked how long it would take, they told me 2-4 hours. 24 hours later my internet is STILL at 8mbps. Cox is a complete garbage company with garbage costumer service. I was then told the service that wasnt working and that i got reimbursed for doesn't exist. Basically they told me six representatives lied to me. They corrected me and said "six representatives misinformed me". How can six people misinform about the same issue? I then went to corporate with the supervisors phone number he gave me. You cant reach anyone without an extension and if you say "operator" like the recording tells you to do it cant complete your call. Even the phone number to corporate given by 411 does the same thing. There is no way to reach corporate. Also the Cox customer service store cant do anything to help customers. If you Down grade with cox they treat you like a second rate citizen. They are only nice if you are upgrading your system. I have had the worst customer service i have ever had with any company in my life and this is after being a customer for 30 years. Im now headed to customer service again because they lied to me 15 phone calls and two trips to customer service and the problem still isnt resolved.

GMAIL never fails me like COX does. When is the monopoly this company has on the industry going to end? When I moved about a year ago they insisted a house call was needed for the install, i was just transferring service so they already had my modem number, while the tech was at the house he CUT all the cables to all the jacks in the house other than the primary so only one jack in the house was a live line. I work from home so I need the most reliable connection, so it's hard wired for me, I decided to move my desk upstairs and what do you know, no other jack works, went outside and the ends to all the cut lines were still on the ground! Called COX, and for 60 dollar house call they will send someone out to install a new cable....crooks, and when you move they say a representative will call to finalize the move, where they will set up the time for the tech to come out, but never once said there was a fee involved, what the hell happened to the self install? like i said, crooks.

When I log in to my e mail it goes blank.then I have to keep clicking on my acct and and then go to webmail which is blank.It ususlly takes about 5 minutes of clicking different to finally get into my mail.I have been complaining for years and they cant fix it. I think its because they try to cram so many ads on the pages that you have to view to get your e mail. I even told those greedy bastards why dont you make us watch a 5 minute advertisement before we can check the e mail.If they cant run a cable company they should sell it to someone who knows how to run it.I hate Cox so much that when I see a Cox commercial on TV it makes my blood pressure go up.

Worst customer service ever!!!!!Apparently they use an independent contractor to do home service issues. The contractor they use came to my home, m& m communications, and destroyed the access panel in my home. I have now spent 3 weeks trying to get the damaged repaired and just keep getting the run around. Cox just puts me on hold and leaves me there indefinitely until I hang up. I hate this company, but they know they have a monopoly on my condo complex and just don't care.It is mind boggling that they can get away with this, but what can a lowly consumer do against a company that provides no satisfaction?

I've had Contour for almost two years.I had some slight problems with it not playing a recorded show, but after calling Cox, they would reset the boxes remotely and everything would work....until the next time. But in November 2014, something changed and I have had nothing but problems. I have had so many Cox technicians in my home and each one says something different and usually blames the previous tech for some kind of error! At first it was the same, not playing a recorded show, so they sent a tech. After the tech "fixed" the problem, I had NO phone or internet! When I called Cox I was told they would get a tech out in 4-5 days!!! I demanded a tech be at my house the following day and somehow one showed up. He fixed everything but within hours of his visit, the same Contour issues were there. After many frustrating conversations with Cox, many "repairs", many times that they promised a tech and NONE showed up and many missed hours at work (to be home for the service tech) I am returning my Contour boxes and going back to the DVR. If I continue to have all these problems, after 20 years as a Cox customer, I WILL BE LEAVING COX AND GOING TO ANOTHER PROVIDER!

i had similar experiences with COX. There is not a more sleazy dishonest scam artist than COX. They will arbitrarily change billing, they will dump digital channels thereby completely changing the deal they made with you. If you contract with Cox be aware that they will in short order renege on the deal and just begin frequently changing it. It is disgusting. Customer service is stunningly incompetent and always dishonest. I would record when you get someone on the phone tell them you are recoding the call and watch what happens. If you've called about tech issues make sure they don't enroll you in their $10 or $12 per month "tech assistance program". They'll tell you they can't help you with tech assistance without signing up for the additional program. Finally if you pitch enough of a fit they will put you on hold for 30 min and then finally give you the rudest most condescending person they can find to answer questions - maybe. The ultimate third world style sleazy scam artists

Cox and their associate Global Data Services. The Global Data person did not give a name he did not appear to be clean and was smelly. He said he would not open the box as it was not one of theirs and I should have bought one from them. I lifted the lid and he proceeded to rip the plastic off. (thereby making it unreturnable) Having bought a Motorola combination modem & router the old ones needed to be unplugged. This he refused to do. Using 1 old plug and leaving the other plugged in and hanging loose. Very unhelpful to the point of rudeness.

Now I can't get Internet in my bedroom @all & it takes forever or drops off mamby pamby. 1 tv freezes every 5min you never know what is going on, other tvs reception s have there own quirks. So freaking maddening. I have wasted an hour already trying to get a hold of COX with NO LUCK.My internet keeps cutting in and out and lost the chat FOUR times already. This service isn't even commercially acceptable. It is disgraceful what they gaff you for monthly for such crappy service. Unfortunately they monopolize this area so I am stuck with them. I work from home occasionally and I cannot have this. It is my livelihood and they don't give a rats a** how it affects their customers.I had Verizon DSL for half of what I am being raped for with Cox and it NEVER FAILED, the speed was much better too.

Having previously reviewed Cox's HORRIBLE attitude toward customers (think blood from a rock), I have to review again based on my latest experience.Our latest bill came with ANOTHER $50 "deposit" that was added to the bill after our first $50 refundable deposit was refunded. After 45 minutes on the phone with various Cox employees, I was told that (1) billing hadn't noticed that the second deposit hadn't been put on the bill, so they added it; (2) They couldn't refund deposits (in spite of the fact that the same bill had a credit for the first $50 deposit); (3) They didn't know whether or not I had been told about a second deposit, but that didn't matter; and (4) If I signed up in a store, I should go there and talk to them about it. In short, if you have ANY alternative to Cox for your services STAY AWAY FROM THEM.THEY ARE CROOKS.

Well, i have only been a cox customer for a month and im already pissed.My billing got completely screwed up. I have a statement in front of me and the charges were explained to me at the time of setting up the service that what i was paying for was the 30 dollars self installation kit because i was not paying an arm and a leg for someone to set up something my 4 year old niece could do and a 25 dollar deposit because of credentials and this 25 dollars would be credited back to me if i choose to leave cox. The statement for the next month would be simply 44.35 for my plan. There was a problem and they had not had the service even set up until the 15th of november. So from my understanding i would pay the 15th of every month. I got to pay my bill on the 16th which was 8 dollars more because it was late (understanding) and my bill is now somehow 155.00. So of course i called. The whole time i got an attitude from this woman telling me i didnt pay for my installation which i did. So they tried to tac on another 60 dollars on top of it, they also never adjusted my date of service so it was considered late since the 4th of december. And theres another thing. Where are they getting the 4th from? You expect me to pay for a months service for only two weeks? I think not. And on what my statement says in the mail says the 6th of december. Seems to me they dont know what the *** they are doing as far as dates go. And the way my account is set up is month to month which came along with the credit and the 25 dollar deposit in advance and shes telling me i had last months rent due and this month. I HAVE ONLY HAD service for one MONTH! So after arguing with her for a half hour she finally drops it down to 50 dollars and change and says to pay today and then the next will be 50 on january 10. I get home pay the bill and now on my account it says i have 105 dollars due on the 4th of january. So now i have to call back on my lunch again tomarrow and get this fixed.... Really close to canceling my service.This is completely absurd.

Been a customer for 20 years (a number they can't even get right - they say 13).Used internet from them beginning in 1995 - a very expensive price they continued to allow me to pay for years even when they significantly reduced the price as more users adopted the technology. When I called to cancel some of our internet locations due to cost, they apologized for the massive overcharge profusely, couldn't believe what we were paying and stated they could only credit us some small maximum amount. Their television service became so expensive, I tried to reduce the cost there. I was told the least I could be charged for basic cable was $100. Every time I managed to reduce my bill by $10 here or $20 there, the next month it would increase by a similar amount. When I finally had enough and called because I switched to antenna and Netflix and Amazon, suddenly I could get basic cable for $30. No thanks. Now, we have had sporadic email service for one full month. They have a recording when you call in to their voice-jail, "You may be experiencing trouble with your email...we are working to resolve the problem." When you finally reach a tech, about 75% of the time they don't know anything about that and try to blame Outlook. I have received a $20 credit so far on my bill for the inconvenience, when I finally convinced them to look at their server issues, "Oh yeah...well we provide email as a courtesy, it's not what you pay for." REALLY? I'm getting OUT!You should too...or better yet, never go there.

Do NOT use this company for any services!!I have been a customer of theirs on and off for over 25 years. I even have a current up-to-date account with them. All of a sudden I have 2 collection accounts turned in to my credit from Cox that are over 3 years old and NO ONE at Cox can tell me why they all of a sudden have been turned in to collections. I have never lived at the address on the accounts and have never received a bill for the accounts. They have now ruined my credit and even if I pay to get the accounts shown as paid, they can give me no assurances that they will show paid. COX is the worst internet and cable t.v. provider in the world.I can guarantee that as soon as my 2 year contract is over with them I will NEVER become a COX customer again.

I pay for Cox's Ultimate service (150 mg/s+) at $120/month and what i get is, 3 machines, 5 network cards saying I am getting 30-90 mg/s. I called Tech support and they claim I get 150 mg/s+ their machines say so so, move on their is nothing to see here.

In previous service disputes I have dropped their phone due to poor service (someone at Cox cancelled a scheduled house move without prior agreement or contact). I dropped Cox's TV because of bad product (whole home DVR that didn't work) with blatant customer service lies on support calls (they kept blaming the connection and after 6 months of bad/no service I was told the boxes were bad and they were dropping them and 'the new boxes would fix the bad product'. I could maybe believe the new product would be better but not the blatant CS lies to me.

I do not, repeat, do not believe anything Cox or their people say anymore. This is sad because I have compared Cox's cable to both Verizon FIOS and AT&T U-verse and it used to test out better. Not anymore!

Thinking their customers are too *** to know when they are having smoke blown up their behinds, they must train the support and tech people on how to dissemble or outright lie to their customers. I believe their customer people do not believe they are lying, but either they are hiring and support personnel that can not detect a service lie or are right out of the used car sales environment. Bottom line -- I do not trust Cox anymore.

The easiest game to play for service providers is the blame game, blame everything and everybody else but yourself. But... 3 machines/5 internet cards and the same service levels at 1/4 to 1/2 of the stated service level is hard to believe and even harder to pay for.

The customer service people suggest their fiber service but this seems too much like their suggestions that I get their new, improved TV service when they lied about the TV service that was not working. If the product is bad, it's bad. If they are lying, they are lying.

Lying is not a good customer retention strategy. Cox should fix their service offerings, anything less is an insult to their customers. The only thing that keeps them competitive, in my opinion, is that their competition has the same service and CS model, deliver less than they deliver and blame, blame, blame the customer for their equipment's failings.

Glitchey system that simply does not work.Consistent issues include that the the satellite units will not play shows from the DVR. Either you get a blue box that says "Loading...Please wait" that hangs on the screen and never goes away without ever playing the show or it will appear and be replaced with a message saying that there is an issue with your whole home DVR with a reference number and telling you to call cox at a certain phone number. The story is always the same. They reset the box and sometimes it will work and sometimes it will not. When it doesn't they will insist on sending someone out and if the problem has temporarily stopped before they get there they will try to charge you for the visit. This reoccurring problem happens several times a day and requires booting the units several times in a row before it will work temporarily. They never replace these defective units either. The latest issue that started recently is that when I turn on the box and TV their will be no sound. The issue is not with the tv but with the Cox box again. The only way to get sound is to unplug the unit and wait for it to load up again. Usually the sound will be back after doing this once or twice in a row.It is a horrible system and if the cable were in my name I would have ditched COX and their whole home DVR system long ago for any alternative out there.
