Cox has a monopoly in Rhode Island. Have to get a bundle because it cost the same without TV. Had Verizon for years and no issues. Now I,m down at least once per week. Technical support is a joke....

If there was another broadband provider here, would make the change in a second. I,m now paying $50 a month more then when I was with verizon. Also force you to have speeds of 100mbps, when 50 was always enough. No more 50, why is that?
Nomorobo not offered. Why is this. Customers have been asking daily.

Ok, well, I could stomach that if it didn't slow to 1-2Mbps almost every evening (worse when its super hot out and everyone is inside streaming netflix) due to node being overloaded. Apparently this is a chronic issue in Chandler and most cox users just accept it. WTF???

Regularly, randomly, we lose all IP connectivity but still have excellent downstream/upstream numbers on modem. Tech said that it must be something in the "head end" and that they will "look in to it". That was a year ago.

Quite possibly the worst internet service in the area as it really only works well during the day... While you're at work.

We are canceling when our contract expires in a few weeks and never looking back.

In fact, just yesterday I got into it with the tech after calling them about only getting 30 Mbps instead of the 150 Mbps I should be getting. I told her that "I tried using several different servers and I'm getting between 20-30 Mbps". She then says "I don't see that you used Cox's server to test your speeds, ours is the same as Ookla!" So I told her "I don't need to use YOUR server, you're not going to get a 110 Mbps discrepancy by using YOUR server". I couldn't finish the sentence when she started to argue with me and started talking right over the top of me, then ultimately hanging the phone up on me after I told her to listen to what I'm saying... I wanted to ask her that if Ookla is the same as Cox's server, THEN WHY ARE YOU ASKING ME TO USE COX'S SERVER? But she hung up on me... real professional! I guess customers are an inconvenience to them, they just want your money and for you to shut up and deal with poor service. It seems to be a pattern with them as I've only met ONE... Cox installer in Arizona that did their job and actually had a happy attitude, and I've been dealing with them for 10 years on a weekly basis. Century Link is just as bad as Cox! I wish DirecTV had as fast internet as cable does, or if I was wishing for stuff, that Cox would get their act together! Show some vetting when interviewing these people for petes sake!!! I've had really good luck with DirecTV's techs on the phone as well as their installers, so I know it's attainable.

I had Cox Internet since 2014. Even from day 1 there were always random drop-outs. All of the equipment was brand new. I never reported these issues at the time because I was only spending several...

I had Cox Internet since 2014. Even from day 1 there were always random drop-outs. All of the equipment was brand new. I never reported these issues at the time because I was only spending several weeks a year in this location. Fast forward a few years, and I am now at this location full time.

Starting last November, the internet began dropping out even more often than it was before. I opened a ticket with Cox, which they did nothing with. Then, in December, they had the audacity to call me to try to get me to add new services. I called back again in January and was told by their customer service that the ticket has never been looked at by anyone in all this time, and that it was my fault for not following up with them to make sure that the issue was being addressed.

I was also seeing regular T3 and T4 timeouts and the Cox agents told me that they don't troubleshoot T3 and T4 timeouts by customer request. They did dispatch a tech who checked everything out to the street and could not find any issue. Of course, the tech wasn't going to wait around all day to wait for the modem to reboot when there was a T4 timeout. When issues persisted, I continued to contact Cox but was being given the run-around, no credits for interrupted service, and all they wanted me to do was to replace my (practically new) customer owned equipment with their own for a monthly rental fee. I pressed Cox for further information about what troubleshooting was going to be performed when the modem was replaced and the issues continued. Cox, of course, refused to admit any fault on their network. I was told that they could not see the errors I was describing on their end, when I was able to open the log in the modem and read them the error messages straight from my web browser.

Out of frustration, I cancelled their overpriced service ($40/mo for 5mbps!?) and went with Centurylink ($40/mo for 25mbps) which hasn't experienced any issues since installation.

I've had numerous techs tell me "yes there is an issue, we will fix it" and it not be fixed. Or my favorite is when a tech comes out and says "I don't see a problem at the moment, just call support when the issue arises again". Who is their President? The executive staff at Cox Communications (insert laugh @ "communications") remains distant and stealth to their customers and for probably great safety and logical reasons (ex: no single person on their entire executive board gives a flying sh@t about Cox Customers ("Cox Suckers") otherwise someone, ANYONE at their corporate executive level would take their "bull" by the horns and accept responsibility for such rancid public relations). There is a way to push the executive staff's buttons into getting off their greedy little asses and that is to mimic the old "Allstate-sucks.com" website by bringing such widespread horrendous customer service to the public's eye - this then could dent their corporate profits THEN they would be forced to address their deficiencies. Like Allstate Insurance (the Monsanto of the Insurance world), is/was so bad that a great little book based upon a true story in New Mexico of HOW HORRIBLE Allstate Insurance was/is entitled "From Good Hands to Boxing Gloves." was written. This true story will give you the feeling of insects crawling up your arms in bed at night!

SUMMARY: In order to get any response and paradigm shift from the dismal staff at Cox Comm it has to be hurt financially by widespread bad press. Allstate countered their post 1993 potential backlash by spending millions upon millions on media buys to not only tell unwitting potential policyholders how great they are but MORE SO to control the Media Outlets from ANY bad press - this is how the corrupt financial giants gloss over their dismal customer performance and then both the Media Outlets and Corporate Staff can leave the issue happy whether the customer is or not!

They tell me it is my router, I buy a new router, then they tell me it is the modem. I remind them I purchased the modem from them just a few months ago after I had a different problem. They switched it out for me for some other broke piece of crap. The second modem works worse than the first. They have had two service guys out who I can only describe as 14 year old boys who could not find a problem. Sure after telling them I can unplug the modem and reconnect and it will work for 20-30 min then crap out on me. Sure enough after they leave it craps out. The brain dead fools on the phone can only reset the modem which I constantly remind them in a piece of crap. Now they want to send a guy out who they tell me will charge me to fix the internet I pay them to keep running. There are two other companies in my area both of which are just over dialup speeds and have worse customer service ratings. If you could only get the crap they pull on camera maybe they would be shamed into better service like the airline industry is going through.

Called to tell them the billing was incorrect. They had no record of the previous phone call. Now seasonal hold of 50% higher than it was when I first called. On top of that, now I'm 2000 miles away so I can't disconnect because I can't return the equipment. In the middle of that discussion (over an hour on the phone), they cut me off! They don't get it right the first time. Even after having service with them they f%@k up and try to rob us of our money. We cancelled almost a month ago, so you think it ends there right? No, they charged us an extra month even with our cancellation on file. On the phone with them trying to correct their ways, and they can't even determine who to talk with. We have to tell them how to do their job. Who knows what they do while you are on hold. Expect it to take at least an hour for the phone call. I hope a lot of people can see this before signing their lives away to Cox.

The number one problem I have seen commented on is not the service, but the fact that too many people buy techy toys and aren't techy people. They do not understand that if you are seeing extra characters show up when you are typing that it is not the internet causing the problem, but an issue with either the keyboard (most commonly wireless keyboards) or their computer (malware and browser hijackers are the most common). Not being techy means you also do not know that the more wireless devices you have in the house, the more attention you have to pay to your network setup (on my router I set up one network for desktops/laptops, one for tablets/phones, and a third for other smart devices). Not being techy means that you won't know that Windows 10 deletes its driver files on a regular basis which means you cannot connect The device until you reinstall the driver which you will need saved on a jump drive just to get it to work because you cannot connect to the internet without the right driver file. When a tech support person asks you to unplug the power cord on your device and you say you aren't techy, you are showing why you have so many problems and it is not the company's fault that you don't know what a power cord is even though your vacuum cleaner, hair dryer, and alarm clock all have them too. Sorry kids but when you buy or rent your router the first thing you should do when you get online is download the manual for it. Have Contour2 boxes? Well they don't list a manual for them but they are the same as the Comcast Xfinity boxes so that manual will work just fine. I could go on for days but since most people won't even read this far, why should I bother.

Cox is the most useless and incompetent company I have had the displeasure of dealing with. I have had to take off work several times for them just to come buy a say that they cannot run the cable a ground crew needs to run the cable. It has been months trying to get service and obviously they could care less. They lie to you by leaving a tag on you door saying there was not back yard access. When in fact there are two gates neither are locked and no dogs in the yard. The latest is I had an appointment scheduled for the 18th and when I called a week ago we were still scheduled, but when I called this afternoon I was told it was cancelled on the 9th. We were never notified. Another sign that Cox could care less about their customers. At least one course of action I can take is I work for a large Computer Service Provider in New Orleans and I will start working with my clients to drop their Cox Internet service and move to a new provider.

Not only have I cancelled my cable with Cox and switched to streaming TV services, but now they are complete morons, when it comes to scheduling a technician to come out to check the modem. I had a service window from 1:00-3:00 and they are supposed to call 30 minutes prior. Well, 2:40 rolls around and no phone call, so I get on the horn with them. The automated service says the technician's ETA is 2:40 and here I sit at work, waiting on a phone call. After getting a real person on the phone, she proceeds to put me on hold for 10 minutes, just to come back and tell me that, unless he goes past the 3:00 time, they really can't give me any updates on his ETA. So, in fact, he was not arriving at 2:40 and they could give me no real ETA.
The customer service agent thought I was just sitting around at home, waiting on the tech. Who has time to sit at home all afternoon like that? I have a full-time job, thank you very much. Call me like we agreed to, 30 minutes prior and I will meet him there. It's not difficult.

It's sad to see how many small businesses across the county have become hurt simply due to frequent cox outages and poor poor service delivery. The jobs at cox are made that much harder to fill in these gaps and in a sense become gaps themselves in their overall business model. From tech support to sales, there are breaks and the consumer and small businesses alike are hurt because of it. I wish my former comrades much luck going forward with their time working at cox.

I'm in Santa Barbara CA, where Cox has a long history of contract violations. I stopped paying my bill permanently two months ago and allowed my cable to be disconnected because with current CIA/NSA censorship, it's not worth the cost. While I still was paying Cox I was unable to log onto any websites for three days – none of my passwords worked. I drove to the closest Cox office rather than opting for a 30 minute phone wait and a couple of recalls due to Cox disconnects, and was told that Cox had stopped supporting Windows XP, and I should take my computer to a repair place and update my OS. I later found that Cox had been making server changes which caused the problems Cox continued to bill me for two months after my cable was cut off – for supplying no services. I went back to the Cox store and officially closed my account. I was told I'd receive a statement in the mail. I haven't received a statement, but this morning a Cox rep entered my private property and left a collection notice on my doorknob, which I believe is harassment and a violation of collection law.

The technician decided to drill holes in the siding in the front of my house under my windows, two of them under the windows the coax cable is hanging down the front of my house out into the gutter and draped around the side of my house. When the wind blows is the wires blow and tick all night long.
The vents under my eaves are bent down with wires hanging out of them.
The box on the underside of my eaves was left open with wires hanging out.

I live in northwest Gainesville, a small city in north central Florida. Cox is the only company I can use for internet. Their basic internet without cable has gone up to 80 dollars a month. It constantly drops the connection. Even watching Netflix has become almost impossible. We rarely get through an episode without the connection slowing so that the show cannot play properly. Often the picture looks grainy as well. When I called them to check the connection status, they told me it was operating fast and smooth at optimal connection speed. When I used an independent connection check, the speed was running at 25 percent of what Cox claimed. So Cox is not just a shitty cable company but also a bunch of filthy liars. I hope Gainesville grows more so that more companies will come here. I would switch to Verizon or even crappy Comcast to escape these dirty Cox.

I can only watch maybe 5 of the channels without it constantly cutting out or just going black and saying channel is temporarily unavailable. Do you people actually subscribe to this CRAP???? Since Cox Communications is a privately owned company they have to tell NO ONE how much money they make.
I can only imagine how rich the ownership is getting off the backs of the people they "serve".

Every time any "customer service" person touches my account, a big bill follows the next month.

I think the place is run by mobsters or thieves.

I laugh when I see them advertise to automatically deduct the payment from your bank... Right like anyone sane would do that.

They misapplied a payment on our account, shut off our service and it took us 2 hours of time to get them to fix their own mistake.

Every time I turn around, my bill goes up without any kind of notice.

I don't know if any of the other providers are any better but Cox Communications is run by crooks.

She lives alone and has a Lifeline alert system that needs the phone line. She calls them and after 45 minutes on hold they tell her they can't do anything because her credit is frozen for security purposes. This is all at 11 PM on a Monday night. Unbelievable bullshit from a monopoly provider in Rhide Island. The corrupt Rhode Island pols need to allow competition for cable in their crooked as shit state. Cox SUCKS!!!!!

I say "so far" because last night I found they have charged late fees at a 400% annual rate on the $28 balance remaining in her account that was supposed to have been taken care on my account's auto-pay. It constantly crashes, the modem can't stay on-line, the box has to update at least once a day, the remote is anybody's guess as to wheather it will work or not, forget the voice channel selection, it's just asanine, and now on top of it all they are forcing you to rent the "mini-box" so your tv can receive "digital" signals....WTF? There hasn't been an analog tuner TV made in at least 15 years. The last analog TV signal stop broadcasting at least 5 years ago...BY LAW. These people have there heads up their asses and their hand in your pocket. If Cox cable is your only choice I feel sorry for you, I can relate to wanting to keep your favorite shows but is it worth the bullshit. Most larger cities have at least 45-50 OTA channels your TV can receive FREE OF CHARGE by just connecting a cheap antenna to your TV and there are more internet options out there than you might be aware of..look into it.

I called Cox to schedule a service call since I have had digital tiling or black screen on several channels for the past several weeks. So then I either watch another channel or watch the desired channel through a computer or iPad. Upon placing the service call, I also requested that only a "Cox Technician" be assigned the service call. Now at this point I should come clean. I am a former Cox employee. I worked in the local dispatch office and was the person that routed the service calls & installs for our market. I would got through each work order to ensure that in the event a certain tech was requested or special instruction were fulfilled. That was until Cox decided that my job and the entire department I worked in for our local market would be best located over 200 miles away (over 4 hours drive time). That's right. Someone over 200 miles away is now in charge or routing service calls in my market along with at least 2 other markets and who knows how many others. So now with a team of dispatchers and a state of the art dispatching software they CAN'T or WON'T do what I as a single individual for a local market was able to do. I watched as the transition was made to the new location that service calls that requested a "Cox Tech Only" routinely routed to contractors. So was I disappointed when the service technician pulled up to my house on the date of the scheduled service call. NO!!! Standing at my door on my front porch was a contractor for Cox. I told the contractor that I had requested a "Cox technician", he said he was a "Cox technician". I then told him that he was a contractor for Cox, but was not a "Cox technician". He then returned to his vehicle and left. I then called Cox to complain that a contractor was assigned my service call after I requested a "Cox Technician". After being passed several times to different call center service reps, I finally was passed to an individual whom seemed to want to try to help. So I was told that I could reschedule my service call and they would send an email notifying someone somewhere that I had requested a "Cox Tech Only". So we shall see what happens next.

Cox Cable Internet Service is SO BAD they should pay the customer to use it! I live in an "unincorporated" area in El Cajon, CA in San Diego County. Unincorporated I don't know why, it is a big city and I'm 1/4 mile from a freeway. This area has no other company available for internet service. No Verizon, no AT&T, no Frontier. Even the satellite company in the area cannot give enough whatever you call it in their internet service to stream videos. So, we are STUCK with Cox. Every single day at between 2:45 and 3:00, the service shuts down. Then on and off. Every single day, it goes on and off at any time of day.

We took the modem in thinking that was the problem. We were told it's an old model, but did they ever send out letters telling customers to come on in with your old model and pick up a new one? They gave us a new model (Netgear N90). But you should unplug it every couple of days overnight. Okay, we do that. And we do that during daytime when it won't get back on line.

It's one thing not being their fault they use a cable that thousands of users are running on. That's how they operate. I get that. And it's my error for living here although I was unaware of the internet situation in the area. BUT to charge such high prices and keep increasing their prices is just absurd! They really should be paying the customer rather than us paying them. For internet service only, we pay $85.77 per month for the top plan. This is for streaming videos, which half the time get stuck trying to buffer, even for videos only a few minutes long on platforms such as facebook.

Phone did not work and called on Wednesday. Was told Cox would come Thursday 5-7pm. No one shows up. I called after 7 and was told the tech came at 5:51 and we did not answer the door. My bell works...

Phone did not work and called on Wednesday. Was told Cox would come Thursday 5-7pm. No one shows up. I called after 7 and was told the tech came at 5:51 and we did not answer the door. My bell works and either my daughter or I hear anyone ringing the door. I complained to supervisor and got a Friday 8-10 a.m. appointment on 10/7/16. I wasted two hours and nobody shows. The worst thing was when I called at 9:30 a.m. Cox said the appointment was still good and tech would come between 8-10.

I called and talked to a tech named Ron, he took my number and said he would call back and he did not.

I went online and chatted with Daniel and he tried to set me up for service this afternnon after 4 p.m. (10/7/16). Nobody called or came.

My phone is still down.

After 20 years with Cox, it is time to move to Sling and give up the land line.

I work in California M-F in an area with 2 competing cable suppliers. And the standard internet I have there blows the crap I have in AZ away.

Payback is coming Cox. The phone company is almost done wiring my neighborhood for 1Gb fiber optic. The day that becomes available is the day I bring all the hardware in my basement to the nearest COX store and we part ways.

I was then told to return my modem and the cords that came with it to the store I leased them from, which I did. I do recall receiving a receipt, but that was 4 years ago and I don't keep receipts that long, nor should I be expected to. A month ago, I checked my credit score for the first time to find that I was being charged for not returning the modem, which I did. Cox refuses to drop the matter because I no longer have the receipt nor the information which was printed on it. I am being charged $416 I do not have.

I'm not a business annalist nor a CEO of a multi-million dollar company BUT, I would rather retain an existing customer by giving them a 50-60 dollar break. OR...just dropping the home phone as asked so the customer can save the 35 bucks.... BUT NO!!!! It was like I was buying a used car..."please hold the line, I have to speak to my manager". The bonehead came back with a price higher than what my current bill was. Mind you my "discounts" have expired. I told that bonehead "hell no" to what he had to offer and let him know that the next call I make to Cox will be to DISCONNECT everything except internet.
I tried to find out how much just INTERNET would cost and I got the run around on that also, put me in que with a really long wait. Hung up...went online to check price. Shock you can't see prices so I answered the pop up instant chat box. Asked there but refused to tell them I am existing. Well, of course they stalked me and chatted back with the confirmation of existing services and I asked....if you already knew "Why in the hell did you bother asking"
SO I called the next day from my work phone, said I was knew and wanted price of Internet Only, don't care about the 1 year intro. Finally got my answer...about 78.00 bucks.
Will be purchasing a Channel Master soon and checking into Sling TV. So COX"suckers" you will now be losing 130.00 bucks a month instead of just 35-50. Again, not a business guru but now they will be losing quite a bit more a month when all they had to do was give me a bit of a break on my bill.

(I am an IT guy for a large corporation in several states, and we have daily run ins with ATnotT, and COX.)

Here is the low down on COX speed packages...its a marketing ploy with no actual results. Yeah, ya getting ripped off.
The sales pitch---"Get mega download speeds, 100mbps! For $$ more you can get 200mbps! Do all of your surfing in 2 seconds, blahblah. "

The sad reality is that to "prove it to you" they send you to "speedtest.com" to show you how fast your clunker is.
But really, what that site shows you is the speed BETWEEN COX's servers...
and NOT to the "outside world", and is NOT a real world speed indicator.

Why? Because the hardware needed to get any faster than 10mbps gets expensive and larger. (I have installed bunches). So what's on the telephone pole outside is 10-20mbps max.

Are they lying? YES. The marketing INFERS total average net com speeds at 100-200mbps, but you will NEVER get that---because the physical system's electronics CAN'T.

The caveat is that NOWHERE on any website do they accurately spell out the tech detail of what those numbers mean. That leaves them legally free to bamboozle the public with glossy technical terminology, without having to provide the inferred performance.

Sorry folks, there is a electronics components limitation on net speeds that come from the telecom providers. To help out...here are two real owworld speedtesters.....

toast.net -will give you speeds in kbps- so divide by 100. (if it says 8000kbps, it means 8mbps.) Is the most accurate results.

speakeasy.com.--will give you max burst speeds.

anyone else will give you a "reported speed" (which is only between the company's servers), the results are also tempered/signaled by the header package your net provider sends to that "favored service site". In other words, your provider sends info to the speedtest site telling it your "assigned speed". (If it measures differently, it gives you an error). They constantly refer customers to such sites to "validate" net speeds, but technically it is only true for communications between the customer and the speedtest site.




To get 200mbps, you would need a multicore fiber connection, direct connection off of a trunking line, and fast electronics everywhere in between. I have 130mbps to my desk (for sending info between systems, and to reroute large customer files when the local net chokes.)

Sorry ya'll, but they are all lying their corporate asses off to grab your dollars.

Also, whenever I use e-mail to send to a phone carrier's system, it has taken up to 24hrs to deliver that e-mail. In case you don't know what I'm talking about, anyone has the ability to send an e-mail with the limitations of standard text messaging, to cell phones that have texting ability. Look up a list of carriers and see what domain they use for such SMS messages. Verizon, for example, is xxxxxxxxxx@vtext.com where x are the ten digit phone number you want to text to. Some people like me don't have a smart phone, or a old flip phone with unlimited texting, so I try to use email to SMS texting. I just can't count on it for timely delivery.
I've written postmaster@cox.net in regards to this delay and it's been 3 days and no reply. Instead, I get an email within 2 days that say they have poked around on my network and has found a service that I shouldn't be running. The e-mail is politely written saying I might have a bug in my system or someone else having access, or perhaps I'm doing something forbidden and for me to stop it. Either way they want me to fix it. I believe I have fixed the configuration in my router to comply. What's my point?? Well, I ask for possible details for any msg failures and if there are any rules to go by, and they respond by telling me to fix my connection instead. Lesson learned : Don't complain to them, just leave to another provider when possible.

This makes it almost impossible to play games, stream music, or watch videos (which is all I do at night), so basically I'm paying for service that only works 18 hours a day. When consider the fact that I work during from 9 to 5 and sleep 6-8 hours a night, that equate to me being able to use my goddamn internet for 4 hours in a 24 hour period. This is completely unacceptable, yet what am I supposed to do? The only other option I have is AT&T, who are also horrible and would only give me good rates if I broke my contract with my wireless provider. Maybe if thousands of us submitted FCC complaints en masse, repeatedly, something might change, but I doubt it. Yay for corporate greed f%@king over everyone. Boxes turn off and on, changing channels as it decides it wants to. 8 days with Contour, 3 calls to tech support. Poor girl that is really not a tech but working a script says that the Cocks Network cannot communicate with 3 of the 4 cable boxes. Hit the "Guide" button, and wait for the equivalent to a 9800 baud modem to download pictures.

When I called to have a tech out for the fourth visit, they say they can't have someone out for 2 days, when I tell them after 3 prior visits I find that unacceptable, they say hey can't do anything. Even after asking to
talk to a supervisor. The Floor Supervisor named "John" still says he can't do anything and then get a short/curt attitude when I ask to talk to someone else.

It's time to break up these "no-service" cable monopolies. Call your Senator and Representative. Bring the Cox cable monopoly to an end in Destin, Florida.

Dumb a r s e said this because I mentioned I work from home & need to log on to the internet. Their services are frequently out just when I need the internet to work or study.

I nearly cursed him out because they charge approximately $200 just to get the business service & tell you to bend over and take it by gouging you another $70 a month before taxes for internet only. The jack a r s e again tried to argue that they reimburse you but monetary loss is not the only loss I would have when not working. Outages galore. And internet throttling! Seriously! THROTTLING? I've had cable for 30 years and I have never, ever seen any company this incompetent. They don't even seem to care. Here's the thing I will have paid for this box in roughly two cable payments, my buddy let me borrow his for about 4 days and I have to say I am hooked. A couple of downsides -No local Channels, No recording. Thos are the two biggies.

I continue to be denied entry to my "Cox" email for various reasons other than the truth.......they do not provide adequate servers for the amount of subscribers!

When inquiring to customer service about the problem you will be "baited" to purchasing a new modem and a faster download speed that just so happens to be on special right now..........

Nothing Cox has baited me with has made a bit of difference in the last six years. Still unreliable........still overpriced. And no.........I don't want a f***king home phone/ land line that nobody has needed for two decades!

And, that's their lowest tier of speed. My Cox bill keeps going up and up with no increase in service. We need price regulation.

When renewing our contract with Cox they promised everything would stay the same including our bill which was $89 a month for no basic cable channels but all of the HBOs, STARZ, & ENCOREs and Internet. For a home phone added we were promised only $9.99 will be added to our bill. Just $9.99. That's it. Nope. After closing the deal and receiving our first renewed contract bill it read $129.00. We called customer service and explained. They tell us since we don't want any of the other channels and just the movie channels "that's just what it is". Which is a bullsh*t excuse because a $129 bill is not what we had signed up for. For as much as we're paying for now, anywhere else will give 145+ channels and Internet. When my husband tries to pay his bill at the Highland location in National City a representative tells my husband that he couldn't pay his bill in cash, just by card. My husband goes to the Cox on Euclid across town. Oh! ..and look at that. My husband can pay cash. Smdh. Not only does the company suck but so do their representatives.

I loath every second I have to spend signed up with you! In the 10 years I've had your internet in some package or another and it has consistently sucked such an incredible amount of ass. When I think about the thousands of dollars I've paid you over the past decade for nothing but utter crap I want put my head in a microwave oven. In the past two years your service has never been worse, and you've jacked my already inflated bill up by 50%. 50% f%@king percent in two years! I now pay $75 a month for a service that literally goes out multiple times EVERY day! In the past two weeks I've literally spent HOURS on the phone with your tech services reps., and had a tech out to physically "fix" my issues. Mind bogglingly, literally f%@king unfathomably my service STILL goes out CONSTANTLY!! What the f%@k is that?!? Seriously f%@k you from the bottom of my heart. The day I can cancel you for good, or even better, you are put out of service by some company that actually provides the service their customers pay, the world will be an infinitely better place. I am on my 4th cable box in 3 years. The 1st one worked for 8 years until we moved.
The 3rd one was a "guaranteed" new one. Guess that's why the disk was full of the previous owners crap.
Unfortunately can't get AT&T, or preferably VERIZON FIOS in this area.
Sadly Dish or DirecTv seem to be the only options left.
And now they are going to encrypt the local channels under the guise of "better support".
Guess if your support is 0, you can only go up.

So pathetic all the want is to extract more money out people ..my cable bill is the highest utility out of all... higher than my water bill higher than my electric bill, higher than my phone bill and they still want more money.

A company just opened where they're offering 1 gig high speed internet for $60 a month.. I'm going to close my account with Cox and stream everything.

After over 10 years, My bill got way to high so I called Cox and told the to cut off my services. They sent me to a retention rep that made numerous promises to lower my bill but he failed to enter anything that he promised to us into there system that led to my services being cut off three months later because I paid the rate that I was promised I would get to stay with Cox. These CSRs can't understand that my services where cut off by them because of there actions and not mine. They say my services where cut off because of my failure to pay the full amount when I paid the amount I was promised by there retention rep. This is there fault and not mine and I have been on the phone for over three (3) hours trying to get these numb skills to understand that this is there mistake and not mine. They also tried to charge be disconnections fees for both TV and internet services when they cut me off. I really think that there lack of customer service is by design because they can't be that stupid. These robots are trained to twist and point there fingers back at you. I regret not cancelling my services with Cox and look forward to the day I get away from these Morons. Come on Google you can't get here fast enough... Don't do business with COX if you have another alternative.

I'll admit straight out that I'm an aging baby boomer and not at all tech savvy. My family has had Cox Cable since before there was a company called Cox Cable (circa 1968 Mission Cable TV, 12 clear channels!!!).

I still use VCR's to record my shows so I can take a tape and player with me on road trips. Our house had a great set-up for over 30 years: Two VCR'S per tv using a splitter and A-B switch. Now with this new Cox P.O.S mini box, it's 1980 all over again. We have to manually change the channel on the boxes each time to record different shows. Since their rip-off DVR offerings are too expensive and would require two per TV set if we wanted to record two different shows at the same time, we've had to make the adjustment.

Thanks for nothing COX! Your new and improved junk gets worse everytime. This latest offering required a technician visit to set things up because the stupid boxes wouldn't synch up despite spending 45 minutes on your help line and numerous re-setting the systems.

One last thought. Why can't they just provide a basic digital to analog converter without the stupid channel selector? Maybe one of you tech knowledgeable types can break it down in simple terms to a basic tech "no little to nothing"?

Well, I have had Cox Internet now for 3 years. I have the top package for my area which is supposed to gives speeds up to 65mb. Lately I have noticed issues with buffering in the evening so I do a speed test and I get 1.5mb to 4mb. At 6am I test and I get 65mb. I repeat this for a few days with the same result. I have a Tech scheduled to come out tomorrow to investigate. My guess is he will hook his meter up, press some buttons and say well it looks like everything is fine here. What is apparent is Cox has overloaded the network for my area and everyone is trying to use the bandwidth at the same time. Do you think Cox will discount my service since they are only giving about 5% of what they promise? I think not...Maybe I should just pay 5% of my $70 bill???

Having to wait 4 weeks is very unreasonable. Especially when AT&T could have had it done last week. I went with COX because you claimed to be so good. There are no words to express how badly I hate Cox! One has to seriously question our government that shamelessly endorses these types of monopolies that control our communications services. We are forced to use Cox for cable internet in Arizona and they are notorious crooks who manipulate customers into services that they didn't request and then charge astronomical fees for said services. For example, I recently started up my internet service at the Preferred rate of 54.99. When I called to activate my self-installation the customer service rep sweet talked me into agreeing to accept a cable box to try one month TV for free. The box came but no remote control. So then I had to call and request a remote for the TV service I did not even want. Of course they didn't want to send me the actual wall cable and splitter so I had to go to a local office and pick one up, again, all for a service I had no real interest in. So during that so-called free month, I struggled with operating the absurdly complicated remote with a gajillion buttons that I can't even read, with a TV guide that is almost impossible to find anything worth watching accept one program I like on Demand but when I go to watch the show it craps out 1/2 way through and gives an error that it's unavailable, try again later. Yeah right! So I called to cancel the TV before I began getting charged and battled with some nitwit girl on the phone for about 15 minutes trying to convince her that I do not in fact really truly want their stupid frigging TV service! Then she proclaimed that my pro-rated charge without the TV is now $279!!! Not to mention she wanted to argue with me that I had ordered Premium internet at $64.99 when I have a bill clearly showing it was the Preferred at $54.99. Oh God how I hate them and remember the insane eight month battle I had with them the last time I was FORCED into using their internet service and they illegally charged me excess fees. I literally had to write the Attorney General to get Cox off my back. And now here we go around on the RIP OFF ARTIST MERRY GO ROUND! It's criminal and I don't know why the American people just sit back and let these corporations control everything. 1) they charge too much..!!
2) TV cable is unstable
3) Internet cable is unstable
4) you never get what you pay for especially the speed of the internet
5) their technicians never fix the problems
6) if you cancel the TV Cable they're going to charge you more for internet
7) Cox's technology is antiquated
8) Cox's customer service is a nightmare
9) several Cox's TV channels pixelated and sound cuts
10) Cox's HD is a big joke

we already cancel the cox's TV Cable
and we already have a TV alternative
with better HD and better technology
I can't wait to do the same with Internet
because cox SUCKS and they're go on it

They are terrible, their internet services absolutely suck. I'm paying for 50 mbps internet and currently I am getting only 8mb/ps. I asked customer support what the hell was up and I was asked to...

They are terrible, their internet services absolutely suck. I'm paying for 50 mbps internet and currently I am getting only 8mb/ps. I asked customer support what the hell was up and I was asked to " hold on just a minute" for over an hour. After the hour I was told they were doing maintenance in my area. I then asked how long it would take, they told me 2-4 hours. 24 hours later my internet is STILL at 8mbps. Cox is a complete garbage company with garbage costumer service. Once google fiber hits tempe I'm dumping Cox. Hopefully this corrupt company goes under, and the honest hard working people get hired for the google fiber line work.
